I'm laying here watching the Las Vegas Democratic CNN debate, and the words of my good friend Matt keep ringing in my head-- this is such a shit show. It's a mess. The first 5 minutes were Clinton(C) on C, Obama(O) on C, Edwards(E) on C, C on O, O on C, C on E..... It was the starting 3 hogging the ball while like 4 other candidates just twiddle their thumbs. The whole time Wolf looks crazy anxious because they're not getting to all his well crafted questions, and the audience is getting rowdy! So Wolf steps in and tries to take control. He starts moving on through his list of questions... the only problem is the candidates try to debate the question, but he's too busy shushing people to get to the next question before the topic can be discussed. It's so frustrating watching Wolf try to follow the group press conference model where each candidate gets a question and some number of seconds to respond. Rather than asking questions he should be calling on people and letting them weigh in on the debate. Wolf's either asking BHE a question, or is asking another candidate about BHE. The cycle continues as BHE bring up a topic disagreement like on healthcare, and rather than calling on each candidate to weigh in-- something he could moderate and make sure people have relatively equal time to talk-- he interrupts the debate to hear what Dodd thinks about E's policy changes. Rather than talking about the policy, he's asking someone else what he thinks about the policy changes! It's ridiculous!!!
Wolf better get his game together.
And what's with the if your name was discussed in the previous speaker's comments then you get a chance to respond rule anyway? Everyone seems to act like it's a rule......I mean it makes some sense. Is it a rule that each candidate must have equal time? You do opposing viewpoints....
