I don't mean to brag or to lay myself out as a BIG SPENDER... But I did want to report my third donation, as of this morning, to Barry Obama. I wasn't thrilled about contributing to the slug fest between our two democratic contenders, but i also didn't want my horse to start falling behind in the money game (how many tired sports methaphors can I throw in here?).
Today's donation was a whopping $5. The same as the other two I've given. And I'd like to think that I spent these fifteen bucks wisely-- that the benefits of Obama having tons of donors, and a very low donor average is a powerful extension of his broad appeal and potential as a president. That the money game matters, and that a tiny donation matters as much as a large donation is an important realization. Because of small donations, he can announce that his average donation is only $96, and he can announce a vast array of supporters.
Today is the last day before the next tally of donations. Hillary's gotten a huge $10 million dollar boost from post-Pennsylvania excitement. If you like barry, but don't want to fuel the fire of mud slinging (mud on fire?)-- I'd suggest giving a dollar... get your name on that list for Obama, lower the average gift a tiny bit, and connect to your candidate of choice.
