We did it!!!

I felt like I was in a Diet Coke commercial today. As I walked from the bus to work, the people I passed on the street had an extra boost of bubbly in their step. People were smiling. Barack Obama becoming our next president had a more tangible effect than I expected-- it's not just a buzz in the air, there's a visible release of tension. I love it!

On another note, I read this article on how the producers of Meet the Press are having a hard time filling Tim Russert's shoes. Chuck Todd's great but too shy, David Gregory has the opposite problem often times being too bullish, Gwen Iffel's been approached but no offer has been made. I'm going to throw my vote out there while I'm in the habit of voting, and having the person who I vote for win! Gwen's great, and I think she's one of the few people who could carry the torch without diluting the power of the show, but she's not my #1 choice. I can't think of anyone I'd rather watch run Meet The Press than John Dickerson. I wanted to comment on the article to get John's name in the mix, but there wasn't a comment section. So I wrote this blog. Listen up-- the best person for Meet the Press is JOHN DICKERSON. (Gwen is a fine choice too).

EDIT/ADDITION: And, while Russert wrote about his dad, Big Russ, John Dickerson also has a book, On Her Trail, about his mom. Not that the new host needs to be a replica of Tim, but I think John Dickerson approaches politics with the zeal, passion, and joy that helped Tim Russert make Meet The Press so powerful and appealing.
